Structure
Structure determines where authority and resources reside in your organization. The structure of your organization must be consistent with the strategy of your organization. As an example, if you want a nimble organization that can move fast to respond to customer demands, you should consider a decentralized organization where decision-making authority and resources are available to customer-facing members of your organization.
The appropriateness of your organizational structure will be one of the elements analyzed in the Internal Appraisal phase of the strategic planning process. Your organizational structure has major implications in the work processes you use, the people you hire, and the rewards systems you implement. Organizational assessments help us evaluate the effectiveness of your organizational structure, and how well it is aligned with the other elements of the Star Model.
